Splints are removable devices that can be worn by a patient to help alleviate the symptoms of temperomandibular joint dysfunction syndrome or grinding.
What is a Splint?
In their most basic form a splint can be a simple soft plastic bumper that protects the biting surfaces of the jaw from damage from the opposing teeth that occurs if a patient has a grinding or clenching habit.
Other forms of splints can be used to provide protection for the jaw joint for patients who have TMJ issues or who need to have their bite re-organised to prevent further damage being caused to their teeth due to poor occlusal (how teeth fit together) relationships.
We also offer an innovative and highly effective discreet in-ear treatment for TMJ disorders, Cerezen™. Click here to find out more about how Cerezen could help relieve your pain and protect your teeth from the effects of grinding.
