Our Charity Skydive

This July our brave team took part in a charity skydive to raise vital funds for the James Cook's Oncology Department. With the support of our friends, family and patients we have now raised over £5000 for this fantastic cause.

When our treatment coordinator Joyce first mentioned doing a charity skydive we were all quite frankly terrified. 6 months later her powers of persuasion won us all over and we were happily married hurtling towards the ground at ridiculous speeds.

Our skydiving team were Joyce, Roger, Erin, Jason, Zobia, Ellie, Carole, Sophie, Lucy, Hannah, Ruth & Vicki. You were so brave, and we could not be prouder. To the rest of our awesome team, our supportive families and our amazing sponsors – please know we hugely appreciate your support for this fantastic cause.

In this post we share a few of our favourite photos, and a video from the day.

Thanks again everyone – an amazing day spent with some very special people

Joyce's Story

Hi everyone, thank you for taking the time to read our story, it truly means a lot to us!

As some of you will know, Roger and I lost our dad to HLH cancer in July 2021. Unfortunately, with it being a rare kind of cancer, it wasn’t found until he’d passed away but the money that we have raised will be put towards the research into these kinds of cancer to help others have a higher chance of fighting it.

Our Hospitals Charity, and the Oncology department at James Cook University Hospital do an amazing job to support local cancer patients and their families.

We decided to do a 15,000ft charity skydive at Sky High skydiving in Durham to raise much needed funds for this vital cause. Practice Owner Ruth Woodhouse helped us to publicise the jump via our Practice’s website, social media channels and patient newsletter.

We’d like to say a huge thank you for all of you that took the time to read our story and for those of you who donated, bought raffle tickets or sponsored us. We have been truly blown away by the generosity and support from our lovely patients, family and friends.

In memory of our loving dad Thirumany Rubas.
