Crowns can be a great practical and aesthetic solution for restoring and protecting damaged teeth. Damage to your teeth can occur due to a wide number of reasons including age related ‘wear and tear’, decay or injury.

A crown is an indirect restoration, sometimes known as a cap, that fits over the remaining part of a prepared tooth, to restore that tooth back to function and/or appearance. A crown also provides protection for the healthy tooth tissue underneath the restoration.

Crowns can also be used for a number of other reasons. These may include:

  • helping to hold a bridge or denture in place
  • protecting what is left of a tooth following a root filling
  • improving the appearance of a tooth which has a discoloured filling in place.

Crowns can be made from a variety of materials, each of which offers a unique set of characteristics (such as strength, size, aesthetic appearance).

At Grange Dental Practice your dentist will present to you the appropriate options and associated costs, and agree with you which type of crown would best suit your individual needs.

Our on- site Dental Laboratory will then support your dentist to craft high quality crowns which fit accurately, and help to restore or enhance your natural smile.

A bridge can be an effective solution to ‘bridge’ the gap left in your smile due to tooth loss.

A bridge is a dental appliance which holds a prosthetic tooth (or teeth) into the gap, restoring the appearance and functionality of the teeth.

Bridges are fixed prosthetic devices, meaning that, unlike dentures, you never have to take them out!

Teeth can be lost for many reasons, such as decay or injury. At Grange Dental Practice our dentists recognise the impact that tooth loss can have on our patients’ confidence or ability to function properly. If you do experience tooth loss and would like to restore your smile, they will discuss all available options with you, including dentures, bridges and Dental Implants.

Should you be suitable for a bridge our dentists will prepare the supporting teeth appropriately, then take accurate impressions of your teeth and then our Dental Technician will custom build a bridge for you; this ensures that your bridge will fit perfectly, and restore your confidence in your smile.

Your dentist will discuss options with you to replace your missing teeth, and will give you a full cost breakdown for each option BEFORE you make your decision and begin treatment

Veneers are usually used as part of a cosmetic smile makeover. Veneers are often used on front teeth which are chipped, or where there are small gaps. They can dramatically transform the look of your smile, and are often the cosmetic treatment chosen by celebrities to achieve the ‘Hollywood Smile’.

Veneers can improve the colour, shape and position of your teeth.

A veneer is a very thin piece of porcelain (or naturally coloured ‘composite’ material) which fits over the front of your tooth, rather like a false fingernail fits over the nail.

Veneers are accurately shade matched to achieve a natural look, and custom made for you in our on- site Dental Laboratory to ensure a perfect fit.

Several patients opt to undergo teeth whitening on all of their teeth, and the new veneers are then shade matched to their new whiter smile.

If you are interested in having Veneers your dentist will discuss the whole process in detail with you before starting treatment.

As a mainly cosmetic treatment, Veneers are not usually available on the NHS. Your dentist will produce a full cost estimate for you before commencing treatment.
